A leading Automotive Parts Manufacturer in Europe, specializing in the machining of car drive-train components, faced a challenge in its production process. It still had to rely on tedious manual loading of the conveyor belt towards the CNC machine.
The manufacturer turned to a cutting-edge Pickit 3D solution: a 3D robot vision-guided bin picking system. This system is specifically designed for picking tulips/CV joints for car drive-trains. It uses a Fanuc R-30iB Plus robot equipped with a Pickit L-SD robot-mounted system. The robot smoothly picks components out of a random bin and places them onto a station. This station precisely orients and places each component in a calibration jig with a SCARA robot, all in an average cycle time of 17 seconds.
