Progress in robotics relies on the hardware and software working seamlessly together. By working on both, Pickit develops automation products that can scale, that are reliable and which customers love to use all around the world. The key building blocks of Pickit’s products are robot grippers, 3D cameras, AI algorithms and user interfaces.
Your mission is to manage and execute our hardware development projects from the first ideas to successful deployment at customers. The main development track is a line of plug-and-play grippers for industrial robots. You will operate in a small team and will make your own hands dirty to inspire and help your team members.
Your responsibilities are
Translating customer expectations into specifications for hardware design
Drafting and hacking of prototypes and adaptations to steer the creative process and to assess feasibility of new ideas.
Managing our hardware designers to obtain designs in a timely manner.
Managing our suppliers to get fast production times for our prototyping and to secure reliable production and assembly of our products.
Working with our test and field engineers to execute and learn from product testing in our lab and at customers.
Your work is done in our office and labs in Leuven. A few times a year, you will be travelling to Pickit customers to help them set up new hardware products and learn from this first-hand.
You will be part of the product development team and will be the right hand of the CTO for all hardware development tracks. You will be working with a diverse set of stakeholders and have to be able to align expectations and to reach the targets defined together.
The most important criteria for joining our team are:
Master’s degree in (electro-)mechanical engineering
Project management experience in hardware development (> 3 years)
Good written and verbal skills in English
Hands-on experience with 3D CAD design and different production techniques
You care about reliability from the start of a project
Passionate about robotics and automation
A ‘can-do’ mentality to solve a variety of hardware challenges
You are proactive and take ownership of your work
Comfortable with joining in on a passionate technical discussion and love working in teams
Above all: Fun to be around
Experience with robots is a plus but not a strict requirement. It is important to have experienced successes and failures with bringing hardware products in dynamic and challenging environments.
